How To Split Files & Add Recovery Record In Winrar
STEP 1 OF 4
First select the file you wish to archive. In this example the file size is around 700mb. When Winrar has been installed there will be options in the explorer shell to do a number of Winrar tasks. Right-click on the file and choose "Add To Archive...". See above image for example.
STEP 2 OF 4
Give the archive a name. Make sure you do not use the original filename as this can be quite long and cause the urls to be even longer. Giving it a obscure name can also make it harder for your links to be deleted by rapidshare. Once a suitable name has been selected change the compression method to "Store". This will archive the file quicker and also will extract quicker on the recipients computer. Also make sure that the file is split into 98MB parts. See Above Image For Example. Make sure that the option for "Put Recovery Record" is checked. This will allow the user to recover any curropted rar files. See Above Image For Example. Once all that has been done navigate to the "Advanced Tab" to set the recovery record settings. See above image for example.
STEP 3 OF 4
It is recommended that a 5% recovery record should be used. Change the "Recovery Record" setting to 5. And then finish by pressing "OK". See above image for example.
STEP 4 OF 4
There you have it. Your file has now been archived and split, now it can be uploaded to Rapidshare. See above image for example.
